To award their outstanding achievements in the 2018 matriculation exams, the five top performing 2018 Siyandisa Foundation Scholarship Recipients were awarded merit bursaries of R50 000 each.
This is the cherry on the cake following the release of the final matriculation results which saw some outstanding performances from the Siyandisa Foundation Scholarship Recipients. The class of 2018 amassed 276 distinctions in total, averaging five distinctions per learner. Each recipient was awarded with an R1000 merit bursary per distinction achieved.
In first position is Molelekeng Annah Mokoena, from Tsebo Secondary School in the Free State with an average of 94% in her final matric results. The young lady from the Eastern Free State is set to study Medicine at the University of the Witwatersrand. Molelekeng was also in second overall position in the Free State Province.
In second position is Avukile Nkayi, from Nyanga High School in the Eastern Cape with an overall average of 93.43%, who also held first overall position in the Eastern Cape and is excited to be enrolling at the University of Cape Town to study Medicine.
Three learners from Limpopo Province hold third position with an overall average of 92.71%, and are also all enrolling at the University the Witwatersrand. Felicia Makondo from EPP Mhinga and Kharendwe Mudzielwana from Thengwe Secondary School are both to study Accounting Sciences, while Innocent Mashula from Mulenga Secondary School is enrolling for a degree in Chemical Engineering. Each of the top five achieved seven distinctions.
