The remarkable plan Emmanuel Mofammere, a recipient of the Siyandisa Foundation Scholarship, has come up with to help elevate the marks of his fellow pupils at the Lenyora la Thuto school in Botshabelo, was told in great detail to Volksblad and Netwerk24 journalist, Elsje du Toit.
She writes with great empathy how he suggested to his principal, Mr TK Modupi, that not only he, but also his fellow learners, should sleep over at the school to allow them to rather use the time they would have spent on travelling home, on studying. It has lead to truly inspiring results, with a noticeable improvement in many of the learners' academic performance.
With the final matric exam around the corner, the school is now in a position to dream big on behalf of its matric learners, and the promising future impressive results may help them realise. With Emmanuel himself receiving strong support and assistance from the Siyandisa Foundation, he admits to feeling much more self assured about the opportunities that await him. "It's very exciting. The Foundation offers me so many opportunities, in spite of my circumstances," he shared with Volksblad.
