The Siyandisa Scholarship Programme highly personalises our offering to increase the nature and value of the support provided – not only to our scholars in matric, but extending to our recipients’ tertiary studies.
The Siyandisa Foundation takes a serious interest in every individual student, and every student’s particular situation is considered on an individual basis. To achieve this, we have developed systems of support which will not only allow us to ensure that the scholars achieve academic excellence at the end of their high school careers, but that the same is consistently maintained throughout their years of tertiary education.
Upon their intake into the programme, these systems include support through online revision sessions and training provided in order to complement work that is covered in their Grades 11 and 12 curricula, supplemented by continuous mentorship, the success of which is clear in the excellent performance of our matric scholars.
Intrinsic to the ‘contract’ between the Siyandisa Foundation Scholarship Programme and its scholarship recipients, is the understanding that in return for our support in high school, they in turn have a personal responsibility to do their utmost to maximise their use of our offering and achieve the highest possible grades as a result.
We also expect our scholars to actively participate in the Siyandisa Foundation community, attend our online Matric Support Classes and make use of all additional learning resources provided.
In addition, students who have previously been recipients of the Siyandisa Foundation Scholarships are also encouraged to participate as volunteers in the programme post-matric, by supporting the younger recipients who at the beginning of the year head to tertiary institutions across South Africa. One such example is through the Siyandisa Foundation Tutorship Programme.
While we of course do not expect our students to pay us back, we do inculcate a philosophy of ‘’paying it forward’’ and that those students who can, help others in future. This links strongly with the core values our programme instils, such as responsibility, accountability, community, inclusion, tolerance and hard work.
We look forward to announcing our 2022 candidates for this wing of the programme and hope that they are as excited as we are about these new developments at the Siyandisa Foundation
