My name is Pheko Tsotetsi from Qwaqwa, situated in the Eastern Free State. In 2017 during my Matric year, I was surprisingly presented with a wonderful opportunity to be part of the Siyandisa Foundation Family. An opportunity which turned out to be very crucial to my success as I was getting ready to exit high school.
The Siyandisa Foundation Scholarship Programme provided us, recipients, with learning resources ranging from tablets, data, learning videos and even provided distinctions merit bursaries per subject. The most important to me of all these, was the opportunity to network with new people. These connections with other scholars are connections that continue and remain strong long after our matric year.
As an undergraduate I completed Analytics, which also encompasses Honours in Statistics at the University of Cape Town. Currently, I am pursuing my Master’s degree in Risk Management of Financial Market at the same university.
It is only after one has graduated that one realizes how all the hard work and sacrifice one put in over the years has all been worth it. My advice to other fellow students, younger scholars, current and future Siyandisa scholarship recipients, is to never lose sight of the end goal, all those sleepless nights will eventually pay off.
I can guarantee you that with the Siyandisa Foundation, you are in good hands. All you need to do is to simply grab the opportunity with both hands and use the resources provided to you well.
I wish all Matriculants the very best with the last stretch and know that anything you put your mind to is attainable. Live, Love, Laugh & Learn.
